Matrix at strong coupling
We describe the strong coupling limit (g → ∞) for the Yang– Mills type matrix models. In this limit the dynamics of the model is reduced to one of the diagonal components which is characterized by a linearly confining potential. We also shortly discuss the case of the pure Yang–Mills model in more than one dimension.

Weak processes involving light hadrons in general, and kaons in particular, have contributed significantly to our understanding of fundamental interactions over the years. Most recently, the measurement of a non-vanishing Re ǫ/ǫ in K → ππ decays by KTeV [1] and NA48 [2] has provided unambiguous evidence for direct CP violation. In constraining the Standard Model (SM), the physics of kaons is co...

The kaon bag parameter BK , which is required for constraining the CP violation parameter in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix from experiment, has been successfully calculated with the Kogut-Susskind(KS) quark action, taking advantage of its UA(1) chiral symmetry[1]. A recent systematic calculation of BK with high statistics[2], however, reveals that the systematic uncertainties in the pert...

The free energy of U(N) and SU(N) gauge theory was recently found to be of order N to all orders of a perturbative expansion about a center-symmetric orbit of vanishing curvature. Here I consider extended models for which this expansion is perturbatively stable. The extreme case of an SU(2) gauge theory whose configuration space is restricted to center-symmetric orbits has recently been investi...
